St Andrew’s old Church was built in the 11th Century and is Brent’s only Grade I listed building.

What inspires us about this amazing site is the stories it holds within it’s walls – as well as the stories of ‘ordinary’ local people it includes many notable historic characters  - from the Knights of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem to King James I, John Bull, and more recently, William Gladstone. For one thousand years St Andrew’s Old Church has borne witness to the dramas, celebrations and milestones in peoples’ lives.

Our vision is to throw open the doors to give the community access again, after more than 75 years; to share the stories before they’re lost; to ensure this treasure has a sustainable future.

The Round 2 Heritage Lottery Fund bid is currently being prepared, having received a Round 1 pass and Development Grant.  If you haven’t already had your say as to the future proposals, please contact us direct, or join our Drama Workhouse - Project Facebook group for regular status updates.

"As Brent's only Grade 1 listed building it is crucial that we support Old St Andrew’s Church. The church holds in it many stories and we have to make sure this is not the end of the tale. Through this regeneration project the church will become a place where memories are created."
Dawn Butler, former MP, Brent South

"Far too often our most interesting buildings fall out of use. Their story is forgotten and another piece of our local heritage is lost forever. I welcome the project to save Old St Andrew’s from this sorry fate. Let's bring it back to life so that its story may continue for many years to come."
