Drama Workhouse

For those who have experienced homelessness, addiction, or time in prison, regaining some kind of  ‘normal’ life can feel like a daunting task. Our projects help participants to develop confidence and build self-esteem; they also reintroduce the benefits of working with and trusting others.  We have run our program as an OCN accredited course in Performance in partnership with St Giles Trust; and regularly run teambuilding and leadership skills workshops with Brent Homeless Users Group as part of their Supporting People initiatives.

In addition, we regularly run workshops with schools as part of Inclusion and Every Child Matters days, and have worked with Brent Young Carers project, Brent Carers, and Brent Community Friends.  Drama Workhouse lead group work at Brent Youth Parliament.  Our Saturday Crew include young people referred to us from both the Youth Inclusion Program, as well as referrals from Gifted and Talented coordinators from schools.

"When I started drama I was nervous and self-conscious. That was partly the reason I was bullied (at school). Drama gave me my confidence and something to look forward to. I am now happy in my self."
Amelia, 12 – Saturday Crew

"This drama club is really fun, and it makes me have a lot of friends. I really like it. I come to have fun and to learn about drama. It shows that Kaye really makes us understand. And she makes us enjoy learning. Drama Rocks!"
Alice, 11 – Saturday Crew
